Whereas most of my Blender workshops have been manipulating an existing file - painting, adding hair and animating a character, here we started from scratch! A series of 4 lessons, these are the results of lesson one.
Christmas-themed stop-motion workshop at a primary school in Whaley Bridge. They got the maximum out of a one day workshop by preparing cut-outs before the workshop, and I hear they are going to work on recording sound afterwards! (Please send me the version with sound once it's ready.)
The frame-rate is lowered for Primary-school children, but unlike the teen-agers I normally work with, they still believe they can draw. And they can. Nice visual style, guys!
Stop-motion workshop with Buxton Opera House - plasticine in the morning, cutouts in the afternoon. The children involved also made good use of the effects available on the cameras, of any object lying around, and even of themselves.
Really successful! Two things that were new for me during this workshop: one was animating Lego, the other was being invited to animate in somebody's house, rather than a library, school, museum, or mental institution.
